Failure
The printer is compatible with meter reading, but is not properly registered on the NDD Orbix portal or fails to capture readings due to a lack of supplies.
As a result, the equipment may be located during a search but may not complete registration on the portal or may remain Offline.
Cause
The model is not compatible with supply data capture for the connection type being used (network or USB).
When there is a dependency between meters and supplies, the lack of support for supplies may prevent the printer from being fully registered or cause the printer to remain without valid data capture.
Related technical context:
-
The equipment can capture meter data only.
-
Supplies capture may not be certified.
-
The option to monitor meters and supplies may prevent registration.
-
The printer may appear as Offline as long as the dependency exists.
-
This behavior may occur in partially certified models.
Solution
-
Confirm the printer model
-
Confirm the type of connection used (network or USB)
-
Verify that the model is certified for meter capture
-
Verify that the model is certified for supply capture
-
Access the NDD Orbix portal
-
Open the properties of the service responsible for monitoring the printer (NDD - Printer Monitor or NDD - Printer Monitor USB)
-
Click the Settings > Monitoring tab
-
Temporarily disable the Monitoring of meters and supplies option
-
Run a new printer search
-
Wait for the printer to be registered on the portal
-
Verify that the printer was registered correctly and that meters are now being collected
-
After registration, reassess the monitoring rule according to the model and connection used
-
Re-enable the Monitoring of meters and supplies option
Additional information:
-
This procedure should only be used when the model has a known limitation regarding supplies.
-
The printer can capture meters normally, even without capturing supplies.
-
The dependency between meters and supplies may vary depending on the product version.
-
Always verify the certification matrix before processing the issue as a communication failure.
-
When a model is certified for meters only, the absence of supplies should not be processed as a printer failure.
-
After changing the configuration, it may be necessary to perform a new search or wait for a new capture cycle.
