Failure
When performing a new search for printers using the NDD - Printer Monitor service, the expected quantity of network printers is found, but they do not appear in the Supervised printers tab.
This behavior persists even after the following checks:
-
The printers are not included in any block list.
-
The search was performed using different IP ranges and static IP addresses.
-
The Use ping test to monitor option is disabled.
-
The IP logs displayed under Supervised network addresses and under Monitoring > Printers show no errors.
Cause
Every six hours, the system automatically runs a routine to check for printers that have been deleted from monitoring.
If one of these printers has sent readings within the last six hours, it is added back to the Supervised printers tab when this routine runs.
Thus, after the next run of the process, the printers may reappear without the need for any manual intervention.
Solution
-
Confirm that the printer is being detected normally by the NDD - Printer Monitor service
-
Verify that the printer is not on any block list, as instructed at Block or unblock monitoring of network printers by serial number or network address
-
Wait for the automatic routine to run; it occurs every six hours
-
After this period, access the Supervised printers tab and verify that the printer has been added again
Open a support ticket with the evidence (logs, reading times, and other relevant information) if:
-
more than six hours have passed since the printer was excluded;
-
the printer has sent readings during this period; and
-
it is still not displayed under Supervised printers.
