Each delivery location groups the devices linked to it, allowing for the accurate calculation of that location’s supply stock.
All printers must be associated with a delivery location, either:
-
Automatically, when linked to a site;
-
Manually, at the user’s discretion.
When creating a site, all printers associated with it will be automatically linked to the respective delivery location, provided they have not been manually moved between delivery locations previously. Similarly, when moving a printer to another site, it will also be automatically linked to the delivery location corresponding to the new site.
However, when a printer is manually moved from one delivery location to another, it no longer follows the automatic update based on the site. From that point on, future changes to the printer’s site will not automatically update the delivery location, requiring manual intervention for any adjustments.
Example 1: automatic movement between delivery locations
Device A was automatically added to delivery location B due to the creation of site C. No manual movement was performed.
Device A was moved from site C to site Y, whose delivery location is X. The device will be automatically moved from delivery location B to delivery location X.
Example 2: manual movement between delivery locations
Device A was automatically added to delivery location B due to the creation of site C. Subsequently, device A was manually moved to delivery location X. Device A was removed from delivery location B and added to delivery location X, but will continue to belong to site C.
If device A is later removed from site C or linked to another site, the delivery location will not change automatically, as a manual move was previously performed.
To determine whether the device has been moved automatically or manually, check the Movement column on the Devices tab of the delivery location properties in the Supplies > Delivery locations menu.
Warning
Printers moved between delivery locations do not transfer product inventory to the new location.
If there are active supply demands for the printer at the time of the move (due to integration, site change, or manual addition), the replenishment demands will be converted to safety stock demands.
When a printer is no longer managed or no longer belongs to the replenishment service, its replenishment demands will also be converted to safety stock demands.
