Create grouping rule for batch demand generation

Two types of demands can be generated for thermal printer supplies:

  • Individual demands: each demand is processed separately throughout the entire cycle, including request, tracking, and finalization or refusal.

  • Batch demands: demands are automatically grouped into batches after submission, for operations where supplies are sent in bulk.

To generate batch demands, it is necessary to create a grouping rule for a product, customer, and delivery location.

When a demand is requested and there is a valid grouping rule for the product, customer, and delivery location, the portal will perform the following actions:

  1. It will identify the corresponding rule.

  2. It will check whether there is an open batch demand that matches the rule’s criteria.

    1. If one exists, it will associate the new demand with the existing batch demand.

    2. If none exists, it will create a new batch demand and associate the new demand with it.

Warning

This configuration applies only to thermal printers.

Who can use this feature

Users with the Admin or Administration of batch rules for requests permissions

Instructions

  1. Go to the Supplies > Demand planning menu

  2. Click the Grouping rule button in the upper-right corner

  3. Click the ✚ button in the upper-right corner

  4. In the Product field, select the product for which you want to group the demands

  5. In the Batch type field, enter the name that will identify the batch demand

  6. In the Items per batch field, enter the quantity of items each batch should contain, from 1 to 999

  7. In the Customer field, select a customer to whom the rule will apply or select All

  8. In the Delivery location field, select the delivery location to which the rule will apply, or select All

  9. Click the Save button

It is not possible to create a rule with the same product, customer, and delivery location as an existing rule. In this case, the portal will display a warning stating that the rule has already been created.

Specific rules take precedence over general rules. The order of priority for application is as follows:

Priority

Customer

Delivery location

1

Specific customer

Specific location

2

Specific customer

All locations

3

All customers

Specific location

4

All customers

All locations

💡

Example

Consider the following rules registered for Product A:

  • Rule 1: All customers and All locations

  • Rule 2: Customer A and All Locations

  • Rule 3: Customer A and Location B

In this scenario:

  • A demand for Customer A at Location B will use Rule 3.

  • A demand for Customer A at any other location will use Rule 2.

  • A demand for any other customer will use Rule 1.

Once created, the grouping rule cannot be edited, but it can be deleted. To change its configuration, delete the existing rule and create a new one.

Deleting a rule will not affect batch demands that have already been created, are in progress, or have been closed.
