Manually update the location of a computer

The location of active computers can be updated in two ways:

  • Manual: update performed directly on the portal, computer by computer.

  • Automatic: automatic updates on all computers, either upon the first scan after the equipment boots up, after the user's first login, or 24 hours after the last reading, subject to commercial negotiation and the purchase of this feature.

This guide covers the manual update process.

Who can use this feature

Users with the Admin or View computer locations permissions

Instructions

  1. Make sure that the Windows location feature is enabled on the computer

  2. Access the Monitoring > Computers > Devices menu

  3. Click on the name of the computer you want

  4. Click on the Location tab

  5. Click the Update button

  6. Wait for the process to complete:

    1. If the update is successful, a confirmation message will appear, and the method used to obtain the geolocation will be updated (Wi-Fi or public IP).

    2. If an error occurs, a message explaining the reason will be displayed. Correct the issue and try again. For more information about possible errors and their solutions, access (Current-en) cc Computer location is not displayed correctly on the portal.
